When it comes to downlight installation it’s not as simple as ‘flicking the switch’. In order to install downlights, holes have to be cut into the ceiling to house them, wiring needs to be connected to each of the lights and a wall switch needs to be installed to operate them. All this can be performed by one of our accredited and licensed electricians.
Finding an electrician is easy but finding an electrician who can do the job right without breaking the bank can be harder. If this is not done right, your downlights can become a fire hazard.
In the wake of a spate of fires caused by downlights, government bodies have issued warnings about downlight installations and as a result, Australian Standards for downlights were tightened, such as:
- Only using licensed electricians to install downlights.
- Ensuring your chosen electrician holds a current ESV license.
- Consider replacing halogen downlights with LED downlights or installing LED lights instead of halogens.
